InvisiblEARTS: Along with Alistair MacDonald the three composers represented here have worked together as InvisiblEARts presenting electroacoustic music in Scotland. The works in this programme engage the listener in three northern landscapes, each of which forms a part of a longer work or series of works by each composer. // Solo: The excitement, for me, in electroacoustic music lies in the ability to deal with illusion in sound. Illusions of “real” or imaginble things; illusions of surreal or transformed things and illusions of abstract things: objects, spaces or events. The works I am presenting this evening range from the almost-documentary to the abstract… But purely abstract electroacoustic music can sometimes leave audiences wishing for something to watch on stage, so even in my most abstract work I try to create visual images for the imagination.
