(The Phantom Basilica) A place forever abandoned, resonating with the ancient voices that once peopled it. I watch as the golden statues, the altar and the ornaments change shape and come back to life. The faithful who murmured under the vault in centuries past, who walked through the nave whispering their undying prayers, have returned to haunt the stones.
The guitar chafes at its inability to be a pipe organ; to inhabit the space without its intrusion being noticed and causing the forgotten voices to fall silent. To gain entrance to this fragile, fleeting universe, it adopts the timbre of the human breath.
