Consomption (1999), 16m00s
soprano, and tape
- commission: Codes d’accès, with support from the CALQ
For some time I have been interested by the phenomenon of creation-versus-destruction. The state that exists between the two is one of decay in which can be found something that will in time take on reality. However, after the destruction, before the creation, there is a timeless space where forms are no more than light.
Consomption was realized in 1999 and premiered on 12 November 1999 during “La semaine de musique québécoise pour la voix,” produced by the Société québécoise de recherche en musique (SQRM), at the Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur de Montréal. Consomption was commissioned by Codes d’accès with the assistance of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).
