if then do it ourselves. we prefer to avoid MIDI instruments, efx presets, and prefab synths in some (foolhardy?) attempt to carve out an aesthetic language that's our own. we use sampling heavily, beginning w/ live and field recordings that we throw into the sandbox for mucking about. and then, at some piont, we get something evocative, a start point, that leads to another sound, and another. & at that point we have a lot of these that are complementary and we think "structure!" because we're composerly and love that order about music. but we also love techno. and abstract music. and sometimes we become suspicious of order all together and just want to be free. and wouldn't it be wonderful, we think, if you could just add them altogether?
