Stefan Schneider began studying drums and percussion at age 12. After high school, he explored World Percussion with Glen Velez and Trichy Sankaran in a summer workshop at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. He came to Montreal to study music at McGill University and graduated in 2001 with a degree in Jazz Performance.

Stefan has worked in musical theatre, (A Chorus Line, Evita, Into the Woods) as well as collaborated musically with a number of projects in modern dance, puppet theatre and film. He has played, recorded and toured throughout North America and Europe with a variety of musical ensembles including the contemporary jazz group [iks] , the Canadian Celtic ensemble The McDades and the Montreal band Bell Orchestre. As a freelance drummer Stef works regularily on the Montreal music scene.

Earlier this year Stefan completed a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and travelled to England to perform in Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre’s Sounding festival.
